The 179th Wharf Birthday Party to be held on Sunday, October 13th

 Happy Birthday to Old Fisherman's Wharf. The Fisherman's Wharf Association invites you to join the celebration for the 179th Birthday of Monterey's historic Old Fisherman’s Wharf on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This FREE, family-friendly event promises fun for all ages, with live entertainment, activities, and stunning views of Monterey Bay.

Event Highlights:

  • Live Entertainment: Dance along with The Money Band from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Master of Ceremonies: Radio personality David Marzetti will keep the energy high.
  • Free Wharf-Themed Birthday Cake: Join us at the Wharf Tent (in front of Abalonetti Bar & Grill) at 3:30 p.m. for a sealife-themed birthday cake.
  • Festive birthday decorations for photo ops
  • Return of the Fun Free Candy Crawl: The first 179 visitors can collect a free piece of candy at each of the Wharf’s three candy shops—Candy World, Wharf Chocolate Factory, and Carousel Candies—with special treats such as homemade confections from Carousel Candies who will provide a free sampler bag. Come early and enjoy! 
  • Storm Troopers: Don’t miss the chance for fun photo ops with the galaxy’s favorite Storm Troopers!
  • Meet & Greet with Monterey’s Heroes: Meet members of the Monterey Police and Monterey Fire Departments from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., check out a fire truck, and enjoy giveaways, safety tips, and more.
  • Wharf Birthday Bites: Special food, merchandise, and ocean activity discounts will be available for purchase at Wharf merchants.
  • Pirate Selfies: Celebrate Monterey’s pirate past by commemorating Argentine sailor Hippolyte Bouchard who raided Monterey in 1818. Dress as a pirate or sailor and take selfies with the pirate statues at Pirate’s Cove on the Wharf.

This is the 31st year that David Marzetti recently emceed and performed at Festa Italia with his close friend, Mike Marotta. David comes from a radio background that spans over 48 years. Besides his weekly M-F Afternoon Show 3-6p, David hosts the “ShagBag Show” every Saturday morning as well as "Sundays with Sinatra: Live from Old Fisherman’s Wharf". All of David's shows are broadcast on KMBY 1240 AM/95.9 FM. He is highly regarded as “Monterey’s Emcee” and hosts many local functions and fundraisers including Festa Italia, Santa Rosalia Queen’s Coronation Ball, La Merienda/City of Monterey’s Annual Birthday Celebration, The City of Monterey's 4th of July on the Lawn, Old Fisherman’s Wharf’s Annual Birthday Party, The Carmel Summer Live Music Series, and the Italian Heritage Society Awards Ceremony. David is the Winner of BEST TV/RADIO PERSONALITY in the Monterey Herald Readers Poll. And, a 3-time winner of the PGA Media Person of the Year Award.
