November 3rd Wharf Walks Focus on Hippolyte Bouchard
Monterey's Fisherman's Wharf Association’s Wharf Walk, in association, with noted Monterey Bay Fisheries Historian and author, Tim Thomas continues on October 6th. The monthly "Wharf Walks” (www.montereywharf.com), are held on the first Saturday of every month from 10:00 AM – Noon starting at the head of the Wharf.
The topic for the Wharf Walks on Saturday, November 3rd will be: "The Battle of Monterey: A Focus on Hippolyte Bouchard". Tours meet at the head of Old Fisherman's Wharf (near the pink "Harbor House" store, #1 Old Fisherman's Wharf, Monterey. The tour is for ages 10-adult only and the cost is $20 for adults and kids are $15 (10-15 years). Group Rates are also available.
This upcoming Wharf Walk on November 3rd is a fun outing for both locals and visitors! Tim Thomas will discuss the Battle of Monterey, Hippolyte Bouchard and also the activities at the Lower Presidio Historic Park.
First, learn from the fascinating 2-hour walking tour with historian Tim Thomas...and then perhaps sitting down and enjoying some different delicious seafood dishes at lunch or dinner available at all of the Wharf restaurants! The Wharf is also wonderful place in Monterey to have lunch - al fresco or indoors - with a beautiful view of the Monterey Bay.
Note: This year commemorates the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Monterey in 1818 and there will be a very special day of lectures and reenactments on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm with presentations at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies’ Irvine Auditorium and the exciting reenactment in front of the Custom House next to Monterey’s Old Fisherman’s Wharf

After taking the Wharf Walk, participants are also invited to enjoy a complimentary appetizer of delicious calamari (squid) - either traditional style or pesto calamari - with a purchased entrée, at Paluca Trattoria located at the head of the Wharf. Paluca Trattoria was the location featured in many scenes in the popular HBO TV series, Big Little Lies.

Tim Thomas, fourth-generation native of the Monterey area, is a popular speaker and lively tour guide. For 16 years, he was historian and curator for the Monterey Maritime & History Museum and has worked with the Monterey Bay Aquarium, California State Parks and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. He is author of "The Abalone King of Monterey: 'Pop' Ernest Doelter," "The Japanese on the Monterey Peninsula" and co-author of "Monterey's Waterfront."
