About Dorothy Findlater

As an English native with Scottish heritage, Dorothy Findlater was drawn to the charm of Monterey upon her arrival with her family. Raised with a profound appreciation for tradition by her parents, she recognized a gap in the British elegance she valued so highly. Inspired by her heritage and her previous experience providing tea service events in Los Angeles, Dorothy seized the opportunity to introduce the timeless tradition of English high teas to the local community.

“I’m thrilled to bring a touch of British culture and tradition to Monterey through bespoke high tea experiences,” Dorothy states. “My goal is to entertain and delight, offering a taste of England’s grace and charm right here in the heart of this beautiful region.”

At her tea events, Dorothy offers guests the opportunity to enjoy “Tea Dueling”, a quirky Victorian-inspired game where participants dunk biscuits into tea and try to outlast their opponent without their biscuit breaking.

Dorothy is also the owner of Mirror Images Global Entertainment, offering a selection of talented entertainers to enhance teatime or any gathering. She works with over 1500 lookalikes (“mirror images”) and other talented performers from all over the world and books them for films, tv, commercials, parties and corporate events.

For her tea events, she can offer beloved characters like those from The Wizard of Oz and Star Wars to unique offerings such as the Champagne Lady and quick-paint artists and much more. Her themed entertainment will add life, joy, and unforgettable memories to every event.

Holiday Celebrations

The holiday season is rapidly approaching, and Dorothy has curated an English Christmas-themed Festive Tea featuring classic brews and festive treats. This delightful experience is perfect for everyone, from office teams to friends and family. Additionally, Dorothy can provide talented holiday entertainment, including Santa, carolers, elves, and more, to enhance the festive seasonal atmosphere.

About the History of English Tea

English High Tea gained immense popularity during Queen Victoria's reign in the 19th century, transforming it into a cherished social event designed to bridge the gap between lunch and dinner, typically served between 4 and 6 PM. Originating from the Duchess of Bedford's innovative idea, it evolved into a fashionable affair featuring delicate finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and a variety of delectable pastries presented on tiered stands. This delightful tradition, which combines exquisite treats with the joy of socializing, continues to be a beloved way to enjoy tea and light refreshments.
