Monterey Restaurateurs Chris Shake and Sabu JR Shake Dedicated to Feeding their Restaurant Employees and Their Families for Free Everyday During the Shelter in Place Order
Also Offering the Community 25% Off To Go Orders Curbside and Free Delivery to Hotels and Homes in Monterey, Pacific Grove and Seaside
March 26, 2020. Monterey, CA. Once dining in restaurants was stopped for the public last week, the Shake Family Restaurants on Old Fisherman’s Wharf (Old Fisherman’s Grotto, Scales Seafood & Steaks, Grotto Fish Market/Kokomo’s and Scales To Go) the Fish Hopper Monterey and Fish Hopper Kona Hawaii quickly converted to a To Go and Delivery basis for their dedicated customers in the community. They also continued to take care of their employees as well as their families offering them a free delicious daily hot meal and bottles of water on a To Go basis as well.
Chris Shake explains, “We are committed to feeding our entire staff which numbers over 500 people every single day to get them through this situation. We want them to know we truly care about them and their welfare. We are doing it to keep our employees who want to work and offering 25% off To Go and Home Delivery for our loyal customers who still want to enjoy the food from our restaurants. We believe we are doing a lot of good being able to be open on this basis.”
Sabu Shake, Jr., adds, “Most have been longtime employees and we deeply appreciate their loyalty and want to help them and their families out with a hot meal each day during these challenging times.”
The restaurants, including Old Fisherman’s Grotto, Grotto Fish Market and Scales Cafe conveniently provide the To Go dinners to drivers who park and pull over at the head of the Wharf turnaround near the kiosk (Pacific Street, left on Scott Street, left on Olivier Street to the end). For those who want to take a stroll and get their “steps” in while walking down the Wharf, they have also kept Scales on the Go and The Grotto Fish Market/Kokomo’s open for outdoor counter orders as well. They also are continuing their free delivery to homes and hotels located in Monterey, Seaside and Pacific Grove.
The restaurants are currently open for takeout and deliveries between 11 am – 8 pm seven days a week. They are following the guidelines for sanitation procedures and social distancing for all of their orders.
