Wendy Brickman, owner of Brickman Marketing, will host the next “Brickman Banter Show” on AMP Media on Thursday, November 3rd at 9:00 p.m. on Amp2. Subsequent replays will be on Fridays at 2 pm at AMP 2 and on 5:00 pm on Tuesdays on AMP 1. The one-hour show features two 30-minute in-depth interviews with community leaders and entrepreneurs.
With an M.A. Degree in Broadcast Journalism from USC, Wendy was previously one of the hosts of the “Your Town” show for five years and is happy to be going back on television. She remarks, “I have been very happy to meet and work with hundreds of fascinating people on the Monterey Peninsula. Through the Brickman Banter Show, I look forward to sharing their knowledge and passion with all of the viewers and through URL links online after the show is recorded.”
The next show on Thursday, November 3rd will feature interviews with Jules Hart of Eye Goddess Productions and Chris Caffrey, owner of A Caffrey Girl Production, Channels of Energy and The Pink Flamingo Theatre located in the North Fremont Business District of Monterey.
About Jules Hart
Award-winning film producer and director Jules Hart is the founder of Eye Goddess Films. Her work has aired on PBS and screened at a number of festival venues including Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival; Carmel Art & Film Festival; the Ojai Film Festival; and the Athena Film Festival at Barnard College in New York City. Hart picked up Best Female Filmmaker at the Action On Film Festival in Pasadena, CA, and an Emerging Artist Award at the Beloit International Film Festival in 2011.
Through her work, Hart has explored such diverse topics as storefront churches, Latina healers, drumming as a spiritual practice, and art as a vehicle for healing. Her documentaries have won several awards including Best Documentary at the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival and Best Faith Based Film at the AOF International Film Festival. Other venues where her documentaries have screened are the United Nations Commission For the Status of Women in New York and at Michael Moore's State Theatre in Traverse City, Michigan.
Hart transitioned from a 20-year career in front of the camera as an international fashion model, to her present role behind the camera after creating a short film as a homework assignment for a Film and Folklore class at UCLA. It was at that point she realized her true calling. As a filmmaker, Hart taps into her own feminism and dedication to women’s rights to tell compelling stories about other women’s struggles, challenges and victories.
Another passion of Ms. Hart’s is working with local business owners, entrepreneurs, and artists to create effective marketing videos to help them reach a larger audience, whether for television or the web.
Jules Hart has lectured at Antioch University, Whittier College and UCLA, her alma mater, on topics such as Film and Folklore, Women in the Arts, and Women and Religion.
About Chris Caffrey
Born in Cleveland, Ohio to a prominent Irish family, Chris Caffrey is dedicated to helping women, especially those in theatre, seniors and homeless women. She recently retired from a 33-year management career at AT&T. Founder of A Caffrey Girl Production, In 2016, Chris produced two successful plays at the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts, “Parallel Lives” and “Motherhood Out Loud”. Chris is a comedian and has performed for several years with the local improv troupe Mirth-o-Matics. She is also an actress and has performed as Kate in the play, “Sylvia”, at the Paper Wing Theatre, one of the Sisters in “HMS Pinafore”, Bruce Arliss Wharf Theater, the Wicked Witch of the West for Directors Showcase at MPC and the mother in “Picnic”, Directors Showcase, MPC. She opened the Pink Flamingo Theatre in August, 2016 in the North Fremont Business District of Monterey. The Pink Flamingo Theater is an intimate space available for rentals for plays, musical performances, documentaries, lectures, workshops and more. In addition to A Caffrey Girl Production, Chris also owns Channels of Energy, where she teaches Adaptive Yoga for the Flexibly Challenged. She is a Certified Massage Therapist and was trained in Asian Body Work at the Five Branches University in Santa Cruz and San Jose. Her focus is to bring holistic stress management at an affordable price. Chris is also a fabulous Vegan Cook....with an emphasis on what taste good.
About Wendy Brickman
Wendy Brickman, President of Brickman Marketing, moved from Los Angeles to Monterey and established Brickman Marketing in October, 1990. Since launching her award-winning firm, she has worked with hundreds of non-profit and for-profit organizations locally and throughout the United States and Canada. Wendy has an extensive background in the areas of marketing, publicity, advertising, social media campaigns, events, and market research. She worked in the management training film area for over seven years and held management positions in the home video industry for several years at Paramount Home Video, Media Home Entertainment and Pacific Arts Video. She also held marketing management positions for Salenger Films.
She holds an M.B.A. in Marketing/Management from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, an M.A. in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Southern California, also in Los Angeles, and a B.A. in English from the University of California at Berkeley. She is a graduate of Leadership Monterey Peninsula and the Leadership Santa Cruz County. She is the is the winner of four Business Excellence Awards (2010, 2007, 2003, 1998) from the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and a 1999 Small Business Advocate of the Year Award from the California Chamber of Commerce and a 1999 Robert C. Littlefield Award from the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. Wendy was selected as the 2008 Woman of the Year by the Professional Women's Network of the Monterey Peninsula, and as one of the Top Women in Monterey County in 2009 by the Monterey County Commission on the Status of Women.
She has served on numerous Boards of Directors, including the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, Monterey County Fair Heritage Foundation, Monterey County Workforce Investment Board, Development Executives Network, Professional Women’s Network, Shelter Outreach Plus, Monterey History and Art Association, National Football Foundation, Monterey Celtic Arts Academy and USC Alumni Association of the Monterey Peninsula.
