Exploring the World of Augmented Reality…
The New Digital Frontier”
Come see the Augmented Reality Projection on Friday, April 5, 2024
Karen Owen is doing Augmented Reality Projections every first Friday on behalf of the Pacific Grove Art Center’s focus on public art.
Her next projection, using butterfly images from Bob Pacelli, will be during First Friday Pacific Grove on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 6:30 pm, projected onto the Pacific Grove Library at 550 Central and also inside the Pacific Grove Art Center at 568 Lighthouse in Pacific Grove from 7-9 pm.
The Pacific Grove Art Center will also have on display its current 5 exhibits.
§ We are now witnessing the emergence of a new digital art medium that is as profound as the Internet was in 1990 -- and we all can take part in its implementation.
§ In her interview, artist and digital expert, Karen Owen, can discuss how Augmented Reality is currently impacting our world now and, in the future, with both public art and business applications.
§ Karen can discuss what Augmented Reality encompasses. Augmented reality combines the real, physical world with additional layers of digital information overlaying and interacting with the environment – using music and sound, simple text and images, video and 3D animation for a start.
§ Karen can explain the art and the science behind her Augmented Reality projects.
§ Karen can share some links to short videos of her Augmented Reality Projection Mapping Projects that she has recently created with local videographers and artists on walls such as in the Pacific Grove Art Center, Pacific Grove Library, Pacific Grove Art Center, Lover’s Point and more. This form of Augmented Reality uses Projection Mapping to cast light and directly interact with the environment. See examples at https://www.karenowen.org
§ Karen can also discuss how the Pacific Grove Art Center is excited about augmented reality and its infinite possibilities both as public art and as a tool for businesses to have another way to display information.
