California Sea-Kings Launch their season on November 12th
California Sea-Kings ABA League Professional Men’s Basketball Team to hold Season Opener Game on Sunday, November 12th at Monterey Peninsula College
Meet and Greet the Team at the Veteran’s Day Parade in Salinas on Saturday, November 11th
November, 2017. Monterey, CA. - Monterey’s own professional basketball team will have its first season opener home game this Sunday, November 12th at 1PM at Monterey Peninsula College, 980 Fremont Ave. Monterey. MPC will be the site of eleven exciting home games of the California Sea-Kings, an ABA Professional Men’s Basketball team.
Tickets are now available online at www.seakingsmonterey.com or at the door on the day of the game. (Schedule and ticket prices below.) At the game there be free drawings for tickets to future Sea-Kings games, an autographed Sea-Kings basketball and two tickets to comedian Lewis Black’s performance at the Golden State Theatre in Monterey, on Friday, January 12th.
As the only professional basketball team honored as an “Official Purple Heart Sports Team” the players will be marching in the Veteran’s Day Parade in Oldtown Salinas this Saturday, November 11th along Main Street. The parade will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The community is invited to show their support and have a Meet and Greet with the team and the coach after the parade.
Veteran’s Day weekend is fitting for the season opener as The California Sea-Kings (www.seakingsbasketball.com) play this season as an “Official Purple Heart Sports Team” and will be honored at the game on Sunday, November 12th with the official Purple Heart Proclamation. The community is invited to celebrate this great event and cheer on the Sea-Kings as they compete against the Oakland Bayhawks.
The coach of the California Sea-Kings is Laurian Watkins, a 30 year basketball trainer and coach who worked with Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, among hundreds of other basketball players. He is the founder of California Sports Academy which has provided professional level training for aspiring athletes for over 20 years and has coached players all over the world. He holds a BS degree from University of North Texas and an MA degree from Azusa Pacific University. He is fluent in Spanish, Arabic and Tagalog. He moves to the Monterey Peninsula from Southern California.
The California Sea-Kings organization is headed by Wash Stallworth, President/CEO, an experienced basketball coach with a patented training system. Vic Goodwin is Vice President Director of Basketball Operations, a basketball trainer and founder of the Crossover Academy. Dr. Ed Valeau joins as COO. He is the Past President of Hartnell College and a partner in The ELS Group.

About the ABA: The American Basketball Association (ABA) is a men’s professional basketball league which has grown to become the largest professional sports league in the world. The ABA was established in 1967 and merged with the National Basketball Association in 1976.
